What would you do if you were raised in 3rd world country where from the time you were born it was a struggle to just survive? What if from the beginning you did not get enough food, nutrition, or support? How would your life be if your brain was not able to get the necessary nutrients, vitamins, stimulation, education, etc? What would happen is that your life would be much more limited than you could comprehend. That is why food, nutrition, vitamins, and education are so essential to pull cultures out of abject poverty. You cannot succeed if your body has never had what it needs to thrive. You cannot succeed if your mind is traumatized with your experiences. Have compassion for those that have seen terrible things, witnessed horrors that have been inflicted on them and others. Recognize that your experience is very different from others. Honor the opportunities you have always had in your life. Respect your parents and what a great job they did making sure the basics where handled and that you were in a culture where education was the norm and food was given to you in school. You have been blessed in many ways. If you fully owned that, how would you act out in the world to others who are not as fortunate as you?

Today, I practice the energy and attitude of gratitude for the life I have lived. There are so many places in the world where the struggle to survive is beyond anything most American’s could imagine. How can we recognize that and be so grateful that our life and karma has lead us to this amazing experience and instead of trying to constantly look for problems, instead see the beauty and light that is this life. From that place of gratitude and knowing how full we are inside and out, then take that abundance and give it back to others who are struggling and needing of support and understanding. We cannot let the complacency of our life bleed over into not having compassion for others. Do not become blind to the struggles that others go through. Just because you have arrived at a place of more balance and a more harmonious life do not let that spiritual arrogance make you hard and unwilling to help others who are still suffering.
