In Somalia, when we see injustice we say ‘dhiiga kuma dhaqaaqo?’ which translates into ‘does your blood not move?’
This quote is a good question to ask yourself. “Does your blood not move when you see injustice and suffering? Have you become so accustomed to the negative and overwhelming news through the television and media that your heart no longer beats in a way that motivates you to change or help? It is a sad time that humanity is so bombarded with the bad that we have almost become numb to the suffering and struggles of others. It is as if we have only so much capacity for compassion and at a certain point we just don’t have anything else to give. Humanity is in a state of emotional exhaustion from reacting again and again to things that really should not be responded to but they are presented in in such a way that it is designed to get an emotional reaction of fear, upset, shock, shame, or guilt. When the news and media is constantly pushing on that emotional button it throws the whole system out of whack. That is why in 2008 with all the election coverage of that presidential cycle, I pulled the plug on the television. Literally! I do not have television or cable in my home. The way stories were being presented was literally killing my compassion with so much overwhelming emotional knee-jerk reaction. The chaos of the way people were allowed to express things and the prioritizing of the most emotional people to express them reminded me of listening to the historical records of Hitler’s speeches before WWII. He was a passionate and eloquent speaker and he was crazy and dangerous. Just because something is spoken with conviction does not mean it is true. These days anyone can say anything and then there are those out there who do not fact check and they get caught up in the negative words and spread what they believe is true when it is only someone’s opinion stated like a Hitler. I wish that humanity could learn to discern, truth from illusion. I wish that humanity could find the place where the fact-checkers are known to be honest and truthful so that the majority of humanity would trust them and calm down the chaos. But there are always those out there who are just looking for someone to validate their distorted opinion and regardless of how ridiculous it sounds they will follow that distortion because it allows them to feel right and vindicated. I believe the biggest next lesson that humanity needs to learn is to become less attached and attracted to fear. It is our need to feel something and our desire to feel alive that attracts us to the world of distortion. It is as if more and more of humanity is really not living in this world but in a world of illusion within their own mind and that illusion is now manifesting externally as little perceptual bubbles of chaos and disorder. I do not know the answer of how to fix it. Often patterns like this have to totally shatter and cause a complete breakdown of structures. I hope that is not the case now. I hope that there are enough sane people out there who can hold this collapsing structure together in a way that allows for a truthful and evolving consciousness to unfold. To that end I hold you all in the light of your potential and wish for you an awakening that allows for peace to prevail inside your world that eventually will manifest externally.
